Magus

The Magi were 3rd century bce.  Persian astrologers and apothecaries; followers of Ahura - Mazda, and his incarnation, the God-man Mithra.  It is said that they could foresee the future, heal the sick, and even raise the dead... According to ancient Persian legend three magi followed a star to witness the birth of Mithra; 500 years later Greek texts claim that Three magi followed a star to witness the birth of Christ.  It is from the name Magi that we derive the word magic.
